First of all, what are dietary fibers?

Dietary fibers are non-digestive carbohydrates that improve digestion process.

Plants have a cell membrane called cellulose, that’s what we call ”dietary fiber”.

There are 2 types of fibers: soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber dissolves in water and includes plant pectin and gums. Insoluble fiber doesn’t dissolve in water. It includes plant cellulose.

In order to get to a nutrient of a plant, our body has to breakdown its cellular wall which is cellulose. But the problem is that chemical bonds from cellulose are type beta and our enzyme can dissolve only chemical bonds type alpha. If fiber isn’t broken, nutrients can’t be released from food. This means they will be eliminated at the bathroom.

When you’re cutting, you need to get enough fiber in order to:

  1. Improve satiety, because high fiber foods like veggies add a lot of foods to your diet and allow you to eat more quantity for very few calories, which means you get the feeling of fullness.
  2. And number two, to prevent constipation, because when you’re in a calorie deficit, if you don’t get enough fiber, than you’re gonna have very tough time in the bathroom.

Fibers can really make a difference when we talk about fat loss plateau. Because paying attention to your fiber intake can really reduce cravings and food thinking. So it instantly reduces the risk of overshooting your calories.

          Daily recommended intake is 15g of fibers/1000 calories(even if you bulk or cut).
